Privacy Policy
Bedtime is a service of Idea Liberation LLC ("Bedtime," "we," "us"), based in Orlando, Florida. Bedtime makes personalized illustrated stories for families. Parents run the account; this policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
1. What we collect
- Account information — your name, email address, and sign-in credentials (managed by our authentication provider).
- Family details you choose to add — first names, the photos you upload, and story preferences (themes, adventure level, topics to avoid). These exist only because you added them, and you control them.
- Billing information — handled by Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number.
- Support messages — what you send through our contact form, along with a salted, one-way hash of your connection address used solely to limit abuse (we do not store your raw IP address with your submission).
- Usage information — basic page-view and session signals that help us understand how the site is used.
2. How we use it
We use your information only to run Bedtime:
- To create your family's illustrated characters and stories. Photos you upload are used to create private, illustrated character references for your account — they are never made public and never used to advertise to you.
- To deliver stories on your schedule and email you when one is ready.
- To process payments, prevent abuse, and provide support.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your family's photos or stories to train AI models for anyone else.
3. Who helps us process it
A small number of service providers process data on our behalf: our hosting and database provider, our authentication provider (Clerk), our payment processor (Stripe), our email delivery provider, and the AI providers that generate story text and illustrations. Each receives only what it needs to do its job.
4. Children's privacy
Bedtime is built for families, so we hold children's information to the strictest standard we apply to anything:
- Children are not our users. Accounts are created and controlled by a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children, and the service has no child-facing sign-up, chat, or messaging.
- Parents provide, parents control. Any information about a child — a first name, a photo, a preference — is provided by the parent, visible to the parent, and deletable by the parent.
- Photos stay private. A child's photo is used to create the illustrated character you see in your stories, is never public, and is never shared except with the processors above as needed to create your stories.
- No advertising to children. Bedtime shows no third-party ads and does not profile children for any purpose.
- Deletion. A parent can remove a child's profile and photos from account settings, or write to us and we'll delete them.
5. Sharing stories
Stories are private by default. If you create a share link, anyone with that link can read that story until you revoke it. Sharing is always parent-initiated.
6. Keeping and deleting data
Your stories stay in your library for as long as your account is open. If you close your account or ask us to delete your data, we delete your family's photos, characters, and stories, keeping only what we're legally required to retain (such as billing records). To request deletion, use the contact page — for verification, please write from the email address on the account.
7. Security
We use encryption in transit, restrict access to production data, and store secrets in managed infrastructure. No online service can promise perfect security, but we treat your family's data with the care we'd want for our own.
8. Your choices and rights
You can view and edit your family's information in account settings, unsubscribe from non-essential email, and request a copy or deletion of your data at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have additional legal rights; we honor reasonable requests regardless of jurisdiction.
Advertising opt-out. You can opt out of advertising measurement on this device below. We also honor your browser's Global Privacy Control signal automatically.
9. Governing law and changes
This policy is governed by the laws of the State of Florida. If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and email account holders before the changes take effect.
